About the role This role is a great opportunity for a successful individual to work in a dynamic team responsible for providing Defect Elimination (DE), Maintenance tactics and Project Management function to the Rail Maintenance Division. Reporting to the Specialist Reliability Engineer, you will:
- Lead and support investigations into asset failures and performance, including root cause analysis (RCA)
- Leverage equipment performance data to successfully identify and implement reliability improvement initiatives
- Recommend and implement tactics designed to support high levels of asset safety, reliability and integrity
- Provide technical engineering support to the site maintenance execution teams
- Execute both technical and process-based projects derived to improve the performance of the fleet
- Monitor and analyse the performance of out asset and review primary/secondary maintenance tasks to improve asset reliability and cost
About you
This role is intended for a railway Signals and System Reliability Engineer who has experience working in a maintenance team, however, the role is also open to growth opportunities for a recently graduated Engineer who has a strong interest to develop their skillsets in a railway operating environment. Through this role you will learn and familiarise yourself with a number of railway signalling, control system and telecommunications principles and equipment that support our autonomous train operations.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in either electrical, electronics, control systems and/or mechatronics engineering
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and lead by example in a results orientated environment
- Strong proficiency with computer systems, networking and typical software applications
It will also be strongly beneficial if you have:
- Signalling experience and understanding of signalling concepts and principles
- Understanding of signalling concepts and principles
- Understanding of configuration management
- Understanding of train control systems
- Experience with route relay interlocking and computer based interlockings
- Experience with level crossing predictors
- Knowledge of Rio Tinto rail operations and projects, gained through hands on experience
