About the role

We are looking for an Engineer Renewals to join the Rail Infrastructure team within the Rail Engineering and Strategy Division in Perth. The primary function of the role is to support the feasibility development of track renewal projects prior to site execution. Rio Tinto’s track renewal program involves replacement of track assets including turnouts, level crossings, bridge tracks, plain line and ballast cleaning. Reporting to the Senior Advisor Renewals, you will be responsible for:

• Coordinating completion of pre-feasibility and feasibility deliverables, in support of Rio Tinto’s heavy track renewals program
• Coordination and oversight of external engineering consultants
• Coordination and oversight of external contractors involved in field data collection (civil, geotechnical and survey)
• Managing and reporting of quality, cost, scope and schedule metrics associated with track renewal project development
• Issuing and controlling of design and project deliverables to execution teams
• Prioritising and developing business cases for future track renewal projects
• Long term track access planning
• Driving continuous improvement within the renewals program, targeting improvements in safety, quality and productivity measures

About you

To be successfully considered for this role you will have:

• Experience in project management and project lifecycle processes
• Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders and vendors  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A technical Engineering degree relevant to the role
• Experience in the railway industry
