Senior Fixed Plant Production Engineer – Perth Operations Centre

We are currently seeking a Senior Fixed Plant Production Engineer to join our Integrated Operations Control (IOC) team in Perth.

You will support the delivery of work that will drive Fixed Plant Controller teams’ improvement in safety, performance, productivity, and process standardisation, enabling the Control and Site operational teams to achieve their goals. You will utilise comprehensive data analysis to develop data insights, collaborate and align a diverse group of internal and external partners to deliver strategic process and operating plan, ensuring the delivery of the production plan.

Reporting to the Principal - Control Technical Services, you will:

  • Lead your team in project delivery and their personal career development
  • Utilise data analysis to provide insights on Fixed Plant process, remote operation, leading practice, business metrics and improvement / productivity projects
  • Undertake fixed plant control and performance monitoring to identify process performance improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with site operational teams on the delivery of business and productivity initiatives
  • Partner with the fixed plant control and site operation teams to identify opportunities to drive operational discipline and controller variability across fixed plant assets
  • Align the development of standards, procedures and process that deliver leading practise across all IOC hubs
  • Lead the delivery of Integrated operations control productivity analysis and optimisation

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualification in Process Engineering or a related discipline is preferred
  • Experience within an integrate mining operation is preferred
  • Fixed Plant operation experience in an operational or technical capacity
  • An understanding of Fixed Plant equipment performance parameters
  • Good communication, stakeholder management, collaboration and negotiation skills with the ability to lead and deliver change
  • The ability to communicate, visualise and articulate data to provide production insights
  • Experience using data analytics packages eg. Power BI and an ability to retrieve data from relational databases eg. SQL, Plant Historians

Where you’ll be working

Our state-of-the-art Operations Centre (OC) located near the Perth domestic airport, is a key component of our value chain. The OC control room operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to coordinate our integrated network of mines, rail, power and ports. It enables all our mines, ports and rail systems to be operated from a single location, optimising site activities from 1,500km away.

This role is based at Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Operations Centre in Perth working a Monday to Friday roster, with travel to the Pilbara as required.
