About the role

This is a permanent full-time position based at the Appin Mine

Reporting to the Superintendent Surface Services, you will provide process engineering expertise to surface operations to ensure the sustained operation, development and ongoing improvement of the water treatment plants, gas drainage plants, and surface stormwater and wastewater systems. In addition, you will support the development of decarbonisation and other improvement initiatives. The position is predominantly onsite at Appin Mine working alongside the operational team working on the operations and efficiencies of the water treatment plants and other surface infrastructure.

Key accountabilities:

• Accountable for the process performance, efficiency and optimisation of water treatment plants and surface operations
• Responsible for supporting the operation of the gas drainage plants, chemical dosing systems, wastewater systems and water management on site
• Provide technical support for plant breakdowns and failure scenarios
• Support Superintendents & Manager in providing information and technical expertise to projects and support in progressing projects through to pipeline
• Working with the Environment team on incident, events and audits

About you

You will have experience working in a similar role with safety being the forefront of everything you do. You will have a passion for performance improvements and optimisation.

To be considered for the role, you will have:

• Tertiary qualification in Science, Engineering or similar
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the operation of water treatment plant or similar processes undertaking troubleshooting and optimisations
• Technical knowledge of water treatment, wastewater management or gas processing facilities (highly desirable)
• Demonstrated ability to influence and work cooperatively within an operational team
• Demonstrate initiative and be able to work autonomously when required
• Demonstrated ability to analyse data and produce technical reports

Location

This position will be at Appin Mine which is in the southern coalfields of New South Wales, near the coastal city of Wollongong and approximately 75 kilometres south and southwest of Sydney.
