The Opportunity

You will lead a team responsible for the end-to-end capital process, including a large in-house design team, and the asset management team for an alumina refinery.  Decarbonisation and process efficiency projects will dominate the coming years portfolio, it has never been a more exciting time to lead a team in Alumina.   

The Engineering function, Design Services are responsible for the operational blueprint and managing changes to the blueprint. The team is also responsible for delivering design services to the operation, across technical teams for improvement opportunities and capital teams as a part of project delivery.

The Engineering function, Capital Execution are responsible for planning and executing the capital projects portfolio to ensure the effective use of capital and in a way that ensures safe outcomes within schedule and budget commitments. 

The Engineering function, Governance and Standards are responsible for the robust governance, management of the engineering standards, and change control processes at Worsley, which establishes a safe and efficient work environment that is planned and predictable.  

The Engineering function, Asset Management are responsible for the development, operationalisation and implementation of the asset management processes to ensure asset (structural and process) integrity for all plant and equipment across the entire Worsley Operation, mine, refinery, and port infrastructure.

Location

This role will be based at our Worsley Alumina Refinery which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (35 minutes) and other nearby scenic communities. 

As there is no accommodation on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour’s drive of Collie. 

Accountabilities


Primary responsibilities are to: 
•    Ensure that engineering expertise and knowledge of the Operation is made available and incorporated/considered in the development of new projects managed by Operation and Group Project functions.
•    Establish and own the processes required for managing engineering requests from the Operation and the preparation, prioritisation, control, and safe execution of a yearly “Modifications and Small Projects” portfolio for the Operation in accordance with relevant processes and standards for the Operation.
•    Own and govern the document management and change control processes for the Operation to ensure that all relevant engineering technical documentation is complete, accurately maintained, and effectively controlled.
•    Ensure the Engineering functions outputs contribute towards achievement of Operational targets and budgets for HSEC, Volume and Cost.
•    Identify and design material risk critical controls for the Engineering Function and associated engineering standards and verify that they are deployed and effective.
 
About You

•    Bachelor’s degree Engineering which is recognised in local jurisdiction.
•    Additional qualifications in Project Management.
•    Significant people leadership demonstrated across operational, technical and professional domains
•    10+ years of heavy industry experience in project management, project controls, operations, engineering, and asset management 
•    Experience in capital project management, governance $20M to $200M
•    Leading and delivering large scale change would be highly desirable
•    Advanced Computer Literacy Skills including P6 (Primavera), 1SAP, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint 
•    Strong knowledge of Community, Safety, Sustainability and relevant statutory Regulations.
