Engineering Projects Supervisor

Work Location: Hedland Operations. Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people. This role is located at the Anderson Point offices.

Roster: The roster is 4/3 FIFO ex. Perth as agreed by management; or 4/3 residential, with the possibility for a 5/2 as agreed by management.

This exciting opportunity involves overseeing a team of project specialists implementing and executing engineering projects at our Port Operations. We are looking for an engineer to join our team who has previous experience working in the projects management space with good leadership and communication skills. The projects supervisor is responsible for overseeing all engineering replacement capital, improvement capital and some smaller remediation and improvement work in the operating budget space.

You will be accountable for ensuring the team effectively manages their projects along with attending relevant leadership and shutdown meetings. This role will also contribute to maintaining our ten-year capital portfolio and in identifying improvement projects. Working closely with our Shutdown and Maintenance teams you will be required to ensure all project deliverables are ascertained and met.  

Key accountabilities will include:

• Supervise a team of project specialists, graduates, undergraduates and vacation students
• Allocate projects to team members
• Ensure shutdown readiness is adhered to and update the tracking tool
• Attend all shutdown interface meetings
• Work with shutdown team to ensure shut calendar aligns with required project timelines
• Identify improvement projects
• Track project budgets and provide reforecasts
• Approve SAP notifications and attend weekly planning meetings
• Manage work order backlog

Qualifications and skills required:

• Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in Mining/Heavy Industrial environment
• Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in Project Management
• Minimum 2-5 years’ experience directly supervising a team
• Engineering Degree (no specific principle)
• Competency in SAP (preferred)
• Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Project, Word, Power Point (Essential)
• Good leadership skills with ability to positively influence people to achieve their targets
• Conduct field interactions on work groups to promote safe work practices
• Support teams with MS Office applications, SAP and general computer training
• High level written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to interact at all levels
• Self-driven, willing to be flexible and the ability to demonstrate initiative without Supervision
• Ability to prioritise and work well under pressure
• Current Driver’s License (C Class)
