Yarrabee Coal Company a wholly owned subsidiary of Yancoal Australia, based in Blackwater Queensland, 2 hours drive west of Rockhampton. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Engineering Tradesperson - Mechanical to join our dynamic team.

About Role

Reporting to the Crew Supervisor, you will be a part of a dynamic and motivated team. The Engineering Tradesperson – Mechanical is responsible for supporting the Maintenance team with ensuring reliable mechanical systems are in place on site to allow for maximum machine availability and safety across site. You will develop a high degree of proficiency and working knowledge of Yarrabee’s plant and equipment; more over you must be able to perform service and repairs with minimal supervision from the Crew Supervisor. As the Engineering Tradesperson - Mechanical at Yarrabee you will have extensive excavator and field breakdown experience.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need the following: 

Skills and Experience

• Sound communication skills
• Basic computer skills, word processing and spread sheeting
• Good fault finding skills on heavy mining equipment
• Ability to self-manage and prioritise work load
• Ability to exercise initiative and work both independently and co-operatively as required
• Skilled in hazard identification and responsive to safety issues
• Previous experience in the maintenance of plant and machinery within a mining or heavy industry environment
• Proven previous experience with fault finding on heavy mining equipment
• Excavator and field breakdown experience  

Knowledge and Qualifications

• Heavy Duty Diesel Fitting trade qualifications 
• Current Standard 11 Mine Induction (Surface)
• Knowledge of SAP highly desirable;
• Current Queensland Driver’s licence
• Thorough understanding of individual responsibilities in relation to the Coal Mining Safety & Health Act and associated regulation
• Demonstrated ability to identify problems, exceptional troubleshooting skills and demonstrated ability to generate alternative solutions
