About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a dynamic team within NPI and develop your career. NPI ensures our potable water infrastructure is operated, maintained and governed to meet relevant regulatory, corporate and internal management requirements. The provision of safe and reliable drinking water is an important organisational goal.
The Entry Level – Source Water Operator will be responsible for executing activities in accordance with BHP policies and procedures to maintain reliable operation of critical water infrastructure. This may include bores, supply pipelines, dams and surplus water. Deviations from operational parameters must be captured and addressed to adhere to regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate will potentially undertake further training to obtain relevant qualifications and develop their career.
Reporting to the Water Operations Supervisor, your duties will include:
- Complete water testing and data collection in accordance with operational procedures.
- Perform inspections on bore fields and water infrastructure.
- Monitor operational parameters and escalate issues as required to ensure necessary actions to manage the risk to quality and supply.
- Assist operators with necessary tasks across our assets including working with chemical systems.

About You
The successful candidate, will possess the following attributes:
- A desire to develop your career within BHP in this ‘Entry Level’ opportunity.
- Have a valid Australian “C class” driver’s license.
- Positive attitude with a strong aptitude for learning
- Intermediate technology skills required as you will be using iPads and other devices daily.
- Willing to undertake further training and develop your skills using new technologies and systems.
- Strong communication skills to assist with reporting and escalation.
- The ability to work autonomously or in a team.
- Previous exposure to water testing or similar industry advantageous but not required.
Location
You will be based in Newman with NPI Water on a residential or FIFO 8 days on 6 days off roster, where you will be deployed at our Eastern operations. In the NPI team you would be working alongside dedicated and outcomes focused employees that proactively approach the challenges they face. The team is focused on achieving the intention of our company charter in every job and challenges are seen as opportunities for improvement.
