Environment Advisor
Work Location: Fortescue’s Chichester hub is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.
Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth
This permanent full time position is within the Environment Operations team. Fortescue's Environment Operations department is looking for an experienced Environmental Advisor who will report directly to the Superintendent Environment. The role will primarily be responsible for supporting operational environmental compliance and management system obligations. Other responsibilities include environmental monitoring, data management and operational support/liaison.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Contribute to the operation’s safety performance through participation in site safety programs;
- Support the operation’s Environmental Management system through implementation of risk, obligation, and organisational controls;
- Provision of environmental advice and support to site managers, staff and contractors;
- Maintain and enhance the environmental monitoring schedules;
- Environmental monitoring, data management and interpretation;
- Prepare reports for external agencies and internal stakeholders;
- Support and supervision of consultants and contractors as required;
- Undertake ad hoc fauna management activities; and
- Adherence to FMG values at all times.
Qualifications and Skills required:
- Tertiary qualification in the field of Environmental Science, Environmental Management or equivalent;
- Minimum 2 years' experience in Industry;
- Demonstrated working knowledge of WA and Federal environmental legislation and guidelines
- Strong team focus and the ability to work with multiple levels of leadership within the organisation;
- Intermediate skills in MS Office and general IT systems;
- Ability to organise, communicate and prioritise outcomes effectively;
- Positive can-do attitude, continuous improvement work ethic, and willingness to learn new skills.
