About the role
We are looking for a Site Environment Advisor (SEA) to join our Health, Safety, Environment & Communities (HSEC) team to provide technical knowledge and day to day guidance to our mine operations as well as other key stakeholders including approvals, technical services and study teams.
This role is a great opportunity to work back to back with the alternative SEA and be the main environmental focal point at Gudai-Darri where you will offer your support and guidance in the management of environmental site issues. Reporting to the HSEC Manager, you will be responsible for :
- Preparing and submitting compliance reports required to comply with environmental permits
- Managing project contractors and consultants providing environmental services
- Managing site environmental issues , including but not limited to; land clearing, air quality, surface water quality, ground water management and , hydrocarbon management and contamination
- Providing environmental advice in the interpretation of legislation, acts and regulations
- Interfacing with on-site personnel to promote environmental goals and solve environmental issues including performing inspections to assess compliance risks
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering (or equivalent)
- Current " C Class" WA Drivers License
- Data evaluation and interpretation skills
- Solid experience in a similar role
- Experience or understanding of GIS software and Microsoft applications
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent writing skills, attention to detail and an ability to interpret and problem solve

Where you’ll be working
This role will be offered at our Gudai-Darri on an 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster from Perth. Rio Tinto owns and operates an integrated portfolio of iron ore assets that include a world-class, integrated network of 16 mines, four independent port terminals, a 1,700 kilometre rail network and related infrastructure – all designed to respond rapidly to changes in demand.
