About the role
We are looking for an experienced Environment Advisor to support our Pilbara rehabilitation monitoring program. Within this role, you will use your technical knowledge and interpersonal skills to effectively partner with asset teams, consultants, support services and other key stakeholders to deliver the Pilbara wide rehabilitation monitoring program.
This is a fantastic opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of work within Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Environment Operations team on rehabilitation undertaken within the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Working a full time 5 days on, 2 days off Perth based roster and reporting to the Environment Superintendent - Infrastructure, the role broadly entails:
- Partnering with operational teams, support services and consultancies to deliver compliance, closure and rehabilitation monitoring objectives
- Strategic implementation, verification and refinement of the annual work plan scope
- Rehabilitation monitoring data interrogation, interpretation and database management
- Providing accurate and consistent environmental advice and support
- Preparation and delivery of rehabilitation monitoring summaries for compliance reporting purposes
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A strong attitude towards safety
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related discipline
- Demonstrated botanical expertise, preferably Pilbara based
- Experience in managing consultants to deliver large work programs
- Sound understanding of Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing technology
- Proven capability in the analysis and presentation of environmental data
- Ability to work autonomously with reliability and accuracy.

Where you’ll be working
This role is Perth based in our centrally located head office at Central Park. With flexible working arrangements you will also be able to work from home as per your leader’s discretion and operational requirements. From time to time, you will be required to travel on an ad hoc basis.
