About the Role
We currently have an opportunity to join our Environmental Approvals team at either a Specialist or Principal level, based in Perth.
The role will support Nickel West in the approval of processing-related projects while working closely with line management in project development. The candidates will utilise their excellent relationship building and people skills to deliver fit-for purpose approvals and continuous improvement in environmental management.
The roles are offered on a 5:2 roster, based in the BHP Perth Office reporting directly to Environment Superintendent - Approvals. Intermittent site travel will be required. Flexible work options will be considered.
In this role, the successful candidate will facilitate the delivery of environment approvals through:
- The preparation and delivery of environmental approval documentation for submission to government;
- Coordination of environmental monitoring and studies in support of environmental approval applications;
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of business-wide standards for environmental approvals documentation;
- Supporting external stakeholder interaction to satisfy environmental approval processes;
- Effectively collaborating with engineers, consultants and internal functions to ensure adherence to develop documentation and maintain schedules; and
- Aligning deliverables with internal business requirements and relevant statutory requirements;
About You
To be successful in this role you will be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail will be a vital attribute, along with strong business acumen and a passion for excellence.
You will also have:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Environmental Management, Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering, coupled with:
- Knowledge of legislative state and federal environmental requirements;
- Experience in environmental management and approvals, with experience in the mining and/or resource sector;
- The ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders;
- Exposure to project management, working to timeframes and contractor management; and
- Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills to achieve project outcomes.
- GIS capabilities will also be highly regarded.
