We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer, generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia.
New South Wales’ Gloucester Basin is home to the Stratford Duralie operation, producing high fluidity semi-hard coking and thermal coals.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Stratford Coal is currently in search of a dynamic Environment and Community Advisor to join our Team on an 18-month Fixed Term Contract. This role, reporting directly to the Senior Environment and Community Advisor, will provide expert environmental advice to both Mining Operations and Mine Closure Teams. From a mine closure perspective, this will include the coordination of closure work packages, field investigations, review of technical reports and contributing to the Mine Closure Plan reports. These contributions will be vital in the delivery of the Stratford and Duralie Mine Closure Plans.
The operational aspect of this position involves the proficient management and execution of the site's environmental and community responsibilities, including; • Compliance with environmental approvals, management plans and other statutory obligations, • Continual development and improvement of the Environmental Management System and Plans, • Management of environmental consultants and contractors, • Environmental data review and analysis, • Proactive engagement with operational personnel, • Engagement with community and stakeholders.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
• Tertiary Qualifications in Environmental Science, Management or Engineering (or equivalent); • Minimum 3 years’ experience in environmental management within mining, heavy industry or similar; • Strong communication skills and demonstrated stakeholder engagement; • Strong project management skills and experience working with a wide range of stakeholders; • Exposure to and understanding of individual responsibilities in relation to the relevant environmental and safety legislation, and all associated regulations; • Exposure to mine closure desirable; • Sound understanding of mining principles.
