Moolarben Coal mine is Australia’s largest thermal coal producer and has both Underground and Open cut operations producing over 21 million tpa.  It has over 800 employees with employees residing in the beautiful Mudgee area, with all the facilities for a fantastic family lifestyle. 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Based on site at Moolarben Coal Operations and reporting to the Environment and Community Superintendent, you will be a part of a dynamic and motivated team. This diverse position will focus on maintaining environmental compliance with Moolarben’s underground mining operations and managing over 7000 hectares of biodiversity offset areas to protect existing important areas and enhance flora and fauna habitats through assisted regeneration and revegetation. The role will require you to:

• Manage the implementation of MCO’s Underground Mining Extraction Plans;
• Assist in the preparation, and submission of MCO’s future Underground Mining Extraction Plans;
• Assist with the management and implementation of environmental projects, including development and execution of annual work programs;
• Mentor and support members of the E&C team;
• Partner with internal & external operational stakeholders to provide accurate environmental advice;
• Coordinate, conduct and review environmental monitoring;
• Assist with environment related training and development across the complex;
• Manage contractors and consultants from scope preparation to project completion, and
• Prepare and review technical environmental reports.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

• Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Engineering or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills;
• Well-developed interpersonal skills to work within a team environment.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders;
• Relevant experience in a similar role within the mining industry is desirable.
