About the Role
We believe that we are successful when we enable others to manage their environmental obligations and risks. We are on the look-out for an environment professional to join us to support our BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) BMA Coal Assets in delivering a forward work plan that is exciting and dynamic.
Reporting to the Superintendent Environment for BMA you will be responsible for the development and implementation of Asset-wide standards, systems and processes to deliver on our environment-related internal and external commitments. Additionally, with a focus on continuous improvement and utilising the BHP Operating System (BOS), you will:
- Provide overarching governance of the Environment Management System and associated processes to enable effective environment risk management;
- Support the Asset and site HSE teams in building an understanding of, and compliance with legal and ‘Our Requirements’ obligations;
- Support the Asset to address and implement Group wide environment activities and projects;
- In line with BMA’s planning processes, identify and manage a portfolio of environment improvement activities across the Asset;
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders in order to influence and drive continuous improvement; and
- Support the ongoing enhancement of technical capabilities of the broader BMA environment team.
Based in our Brisbane Office, regular travel to Queensland’s Bowen Basin will be required to enable effective relationships with the site-based teams you are partnering with. Flexible work options will be considered. This position is being offered as a 12-month fixed term contract.
About You
The successful applicant will be a tertiary qualified, environment professional with experience in the development & implementation of management systems across an organisation. You will play a leading role in ensuring projects are effectively designed and embedded by focusing on influencing others to encourage adoption and usage.
We are ideally seeking candidates who can demonstrate the following:
- An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development;
- A working knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory HSE policies and procedures and their implementation in the mining and resources sector;
- Demonstrated capacity to execute environment strategy through practical implementation of standards, programs and practice;
- A demonstrated ability to reliably deliver team results and meet deadlines;
- The ability to facilitate the resolution of potentially conflicting objectives among stakeholder groups;
- The ability to lead, coach, influence and collaborate with all levels of the business; and
- Demonstrated change management experience, including working with diverse stakeholder groups, business processes, systems, and technology.
