Fortescue is seeking an Environmental Studies Project Manager to coordinate the delivery of the Belinga Environmental Baseline Studies program. This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term role based in Perth, with occasional international travel to Gabon.
Reporting to the Environment Manager - Belinga, you’ll bring together study packages, consultants, internal teams and project functions to support safe, well-coordinated field campaigns and high-quality, decision-ready information. You’ll lead the project controls that keep work on track, including contracts, schedules, budgets, reporting, assurance and field logistics.
You’ll also manage the ESIA Studies Field Coordinators, working closely with technical study leads who are responsible for their specialist scopes and outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an integrated plan for the baseline studies program, including schedules, milestones, dependencies, seasonal constraints and field windows.
Coordinate procurement and contracting for study packages, from tender planning and evaluation through mobilisation, contract administration and close-out.
Track budgets, commitments, forecasts, variations and progress, and provide clear reporting on schedule, cost, field readiness, risks and decisions.
Coordinate assurance and review processes so study methods, fieldwork, data and deliverables meet agreed requirements.
Work with Health and Safety, consultants and project teams to coordinate campaign risk planning, emergency arrangements and field logistics.
Manage day-to-day interfaces between consultants, technical leads, field teams and project functions, resolving issues and tracking actions to completion.
Lead and support the ESIA Studies Field Coordinators, including workload planning and day-to-day direction.
Maintain accurate, version-controlled project records and capture lessons to improve future study delivery.
Qualifications and Experience
At least five years’ experience leading complex projects, work programs, contractor delivery or field-based projects.
Experience coordinating contracts and procurement, including tender documentation, evaluations, mobilisation, variations and close-out.
Strong project planning and controls skills, including schedule development, cost tracking, forecasting, change control and reporting.
Experience coordinating remote or challenging field campaigns, including health and safety planning and logistics.
The ability to monitor consultant performance, deliverables, risks and actions, and raise issues early.
Clear communication and a collaborative approach to working across technical and corporate teams, different time zones and cultural settings.
Confidence using document management and business systems. Experience with PIMS, BMS or Enablon would be helpful.
