  • Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.
  • Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.

Roster: 8D/6R ex Perth

Fortescue's Environment Operations department is currently looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Environment Technicians, working across our Pilbara operations (Hedland and Eliwana). These role will primarily fulfil legal obligations in the areas of environmental management, in particular weed management. The position is also responsible for data management, equipment maintenance as well as assistance to the wider Environment team with implementation of environmental monitoring programs.  

You will be responsible for carrying out weed control activities, develop and maintain control schedules to ensure compliance with relevant weed management plans. Integral to the role is to identify Weeds of National Significance and undertake treatment and provide field support to environmental consultants as required and provide environmental incident response and support.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Complete weekly control summaries 
  • Develop and review required weed control documentation 
  • Document and upload accurate weed control records to GIS
  • Ensure adequate stocks of control chemicals are available for weed control activities and ensure equipment is maintained in safe, working order  
  • Assist with site environmental monitoring programs and associated data management (e.g., Surface water, Groundwater, and Air quality monitoring)  
  • Undertake ad hoc feral animal control activities 

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Environmental or agricultural management Certificate or Diploma 
  • Backpack Spray (AHCPMG301, AHCCHM307, AHCCHM304)  
  • Boom-spray Units (AHCPMG302, AHCCHM404 and AHCCHM405) desirable
  • Experience and knowledge of weed management and control methods 
  • Ability to work autonomously and safely in remote environments
  • Ability to use GPS devices and mapping software 
  • Ability to organize, coordinate and prioritize effectively
