About the Role
One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver.
The Olympic Dam HSE team are a dynamic team that delivers excellence in Health, Safety, Environment, Security and Emergency Services. The Olympic Dam Environment team is responsible for supporting our operations to achieve excellence in environmental management and performance. We do this by setting standards, monitoring performance and collaborating with the operation to identify solutions to minimise our overall environmental impact and deliver positive environmental outcomes. We believe that we are successful when we enable others to manage their environmental obligations and risks.
This position is a permanent opportunity within the OD HSE team. The position is regionally based in South Australia supporting our Olympic Dam operation on a 7/7 roster. FIFO, DIDO and residential arrangements will all be considered.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
- Undertake remote and local field work to collect environmental monitoring data such as weed mapping and spraying, local aquifer and GAB water monitoring, flora and fauna monitoring and feral animal management.
- Undertake assigned tasks in accordance with 1SAP Work Management process
- Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
- Participate in workplace investigations as required.
- Maintain strong working relationship with relevant external and internal stakeholders to achieve required environmental outcomes.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and attribute:
- Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
- Adhere to and demonstrate BHP Charter Values.
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent
- Experience in collecting and reporting environmental monitoring and performance data.
- You will be able to work as part of a team but also be comfortable working autonomously when required and make informed decisions.
- You will be motivated by a fast paced environment and the opportunity to problem solve and drive positive change.
- 4WD capabilities or willingness to learn
