Environmental Advisor

Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday – Friday

Role overview:

We are currently looking for Environmental professionals to join our Perth team providing support to the Environment Governance function to achieve agreed deliverables, including assisting with the development and submission of annual environmental regulatory reports, compliance monitoring programs, compliance and implementation support.

Reporting to the Manager Environmental Governance, you will assist with the development of annual environmental regulatory report templates, review of draft reports and obtain internal sign-off and submission of final reports to the Regulator and provide support the Senior Environmental Advisor within their roles

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist with change management between Approvals, Governance and Operations, includes:
      • Participate in meetings between Approvals, Governance and Operations
      • Participate in meetings at scheduled Approval’s meetings
      • Review Approvals documentation (new and revised) relating to sites (ERDs, Mining Proposals, licence amendments, works approvals, process reviews, NVCPs, Environmental obligation risk review, etc.)
  • Undertake the National Pollutant Inventory (NPI) external reporting requirements for financial year reporting period.
  • Assist with the drafting and submission of Part V compliance reports for operational sites.
  • Assist with the drafting and submission of NVCP reports.
  • Assist with the coordination of compliance monitoring programs (i.e. biodiversity monitoring)

Qualification and Experience: 

  • Tertiary qualifications within Environmental Science, Management or Engineering discipline
  • 2 -3 years minimum resource sector experience (essential)
  • Proven experience within the same or similar role
  • Sound knowledge of relevant West Australian Environment legislation and environmental approval process
  • Experience in use of GIS software
