The Role

Queensland Metals are seeking suitably qualified and experienced applicants for the role of Environmental Advisor. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual looking to develop their career through exposure to a dynamic and challenging environment Working as part of a large environmental team you will be involved ensuring compliance with environmental obligations and statutory requirements, manage environmental risks and opportunities, and drive positive environmental outcomes together with the business to maintain our social licence to operate.

Your key responsibilities include: 

  • Contributing to a large team of environmental professionals applying technical knowledge and driving continuous improvement in environmental performance and risk management
  • Collaborating with operations to solve problems and identify solutions
  • Provide a strong customer service focus and develop experience in the various mining, mineral processing and smelting activities onsite
  • Be an ambassador for environmental performance and promote education programs across the site
  • Interpretation and practical application of environmental obligations including assessing and implementing industry and legislative changes
  • Conducting environmental incident investigations and impact assessments
  • Leading projects and programs targeted at achieving scientifically sound and robust risk based management of air, water and land
  • Conduct environmental monitoring, data collation and analysis for long term receiving environment monitoring programs, investigative and internal programs and company reporting requirements.
  • Providing effective systems and procedures and driving improved practices through the site’s Environmental Management System 

The successful applicants will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in the field of Environmental Science / Environmental Management
  • Experience (3 years) in mining or heavy industry experience and demonstrated ability in project management
  • A strong safety focus, required for promoting site safety standards
  • Capability to work both independently and as part of a team to deliver consistent high quality results
