Cadia is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who are we looking for:

The primary focus of the Environmental Advisor is to ensure Cadia’s compliance through monitoring and reporting requirements across a range of environmental parameters as well as provide generalist environmental support for site operations and project teams. Reporting to the Superintendent Environment, your on-going development will be well supported by our large and dedicated team of environmental experts.

The environmental advisor will manage and maintain compliance systems -tracking incidents, updating and maintaining environmental management plans and procedures.

You will have a passion for compliance and process improvement and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Your ability to work to structure, experience in stakeholder and change management along with ability to prioritise and think quickly on your feet will ensure your success in the role.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Conduct environmental monitoring activities
  • Participate in regular field inspections that require sound knowledge of environmental compliance requirements. Report, undertake and initiate corrective actions.
  • Liaise with members of the team regarding operational compliance requirements and contribute proactively to the delivery of reports
  • Arrange and manage contractors.
  • Provide technical advice to internal and external parties as required.
  • Complete miscellaneous assigned environmental and community projects within time, cost and quality parameters.

While previous environmental experience working in mining, or similar heavy industrial sector is desirable, we are seeking confident communicators who are willing to learn to provide competent advice to our site stakeholders on statutory environmental requirements.

You will also possess the following: 

  • A Bachelor of Environmental Science or Engineering (Environmental) or equivalent
  • Experience in environmental monitoring, performing field studies and environmental impact statements
  • Exposure to operating and maintaining an environmental management system, environmental risk registers and management plans
  • Sound understanding of managing environmental compliance in plant operations and project execution
  • Incident investigation, auditing skills, data analysis and report writing skills
  • Understanding of NSW planning and regulatory framework for State Significant Developments
  • A manual driver’s licence
