About the role

This is a full-time permanent opportunity.

Reporting to the Coordinator Environment, you will actively contribute to the business by undertaking infield monitoring and reporting required to maintain compliance with approvals for Appin and Dendrobium.

Key accountabilities:

  • Undertake field sampling and monitoring associated with the Dendrobium Development Consent and Bulli Seam Operations Project Approval and for compliance and new mining approvals and projects
  • Promote and maintain Field Crew safety requirements at all times
  • Provide support and guidance to Field Crew contract personnel to maintain technical and safety standards
  • Provide input into the monitoring program to achieve sampling efficiency and effectiveness, including opportunities to make step change improvements in the sampling efficiency
  • Manage the field sampling database, including data backup systems to maintain data integrity
  • Maintain the process for the collection and verification of environmental data relevant to the monitoring activity and undertake data analysis on a regular basis to identify emerging compliance and/or environmental issues or trends
  • Compilation of environmental reports

To be considered for the role, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Environmental Science / Engineering or similar)
  • Experience working in a similar role ideally within the Resources or Heavy Industry sectors
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision and able to manage priorities
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence internal and external stakeholders across multiple levels
  • Improvement focused – identifying leading practice and transferring knowledge
  • Enjoy the outdoors and be fit to access remote and rugged terrain by foot. The fieldwork component of this role can be physically demanding.

Location

This position will be based at Cordeaux Colliery, which is in the southern coalfields of New South Wales, near the coastal city of Wollongong and approximately 75 kilometres south and southwest of Sydney.
