About the role
We are looking for an Events Coordinator to focus on planning, organising and supervising an annual calendar of social and charity events for the Rio Tinto Projects team. This is a newly created role within the business services team suitable for a dynamic, energetic individual who has strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving capability. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of several events including the annual charity golf day, charity functions, iCare working group participation and event organisation, and cultural events.

Reporting to the Principal Advisor Business Services, you will:
- Create and maintain an annual calendar of events including communication activities
- Track and manage attendance and volunteer involvement
- Ensure event budgets are created in advance, adhered to and reviewed following events
- Meet with stakeholders to plan, execute and manage the event
- Research and negotiate with vendors (catering, venue, decorators) and chose the best combination of quality and cost
- Manage all event operations including preparing the venue, overseeing event progress and close out and managing requirements as they arise
- Ensure contracted parties and event attendees are aware of and abide by safety standards and protocols
- Raise Purchase Orders as required and complete timely close out to ensure vendor payment
- Conduct post-event surveys to understand success and identify areas for improvement
What you’ll bring

- Prior experience in an events management role
- Exceptional communication and negotiation capability
- Ability to effectively problem solve and remain calm under pressure
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite
- Self-starting and proactive nature
- Hold a current “C” class drivers license
