King of the Hills (KOTH) is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. Undergoing significant expansion, KOTH is nearing completion of a 7.5 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant (previously 5.2Mtpa), providing a solid platform for long-term production growth. This dynamic operation combines open-pit and underground mining, with exciting exploration activities driving the future. KOTH is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora, within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Excavator Operator will safely and efficiently operates hydraulic excavators to achieve production targets in line with the mine plan, while complying with safety and environmental requirements.
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Conduct pre‑start inspections and complete all required documentation.
- Load haul trucks in accordance with dig plans and production targets.
- Maintain correct bench, face, and floor conditions.
- Communicate effectively with Mine Controller, Production Supervisors, and dump truck operators.
- Ability to act as 2IC and effectively deputise for the Shift Supervisor when required.
- Plan and execute digging activities to maximise ore recovery while consistently meeting or exceeding production targets and KPIs.
- Capable of operating a range of ancillary mobile plant, including loaders, graders and dozers, as required.
- Identify and report equipment defects or maintenance issues promptly.
- Assist with clean‑ups, rehandle, and auxiliary tasks as required.
About You
- Proven experience in hard rock or gold mining environments, with extensive expertise operating large open-pit excavators. Demonstrated capability in safely and efficiently loading 240t to 400t haul trucks.
- Experience working with fleet management systems, such as Wenco or equivalent mining fleet management technologies, is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of WA Mining Act, Regulations, and WHS legislation.
- Hold a current WA Driver’s License (manual C Class)
