About the role

Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.

We are looking for an experienced Executive Assistant who is a hands-on and highly organised individual to support our General Manager and Leadership team.

Based in Weipa and reporting to the General Manager (GM), you will:

  • Provide a high level of administrative and secretarial support to the GM with the management of their day-to-day activities
  • Be responsible for diary and email management together with call screening and visitor assistance
  • Coordinate and organise business and team meetings, room bookings and Outlook invites
  • Provide administrative support to the wider Management team as required
  • Arrange and co-ordinate business travel
  • Coordinate visitors to site, planning agendas and activities with precision accuracy
  • Organise and coordinate regular events for the GM, Management team and workforce in the Weipa community
  • Produce presentations, reports and meeting agendas, taking notes where required

What you’ll bring

To succeed in this role, you will have the following experience and attributes: 

  • Demonstrate a high level of administration experience in a similar role
  • Ability to always be one step ahead, being proactive when it comes to the needs of your team
  • Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite
  • Be highly organised, a ‘can do’ attitude and good problem-solving attributes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Be proactive, a great multi-tasker and take initiative with a business improvement mindset
  • Prior experience organising travel, planning agendas and coordinating large events

Rio Tinto Weipa is located 900km north-west of Cairns on the Gulf of Carpentaria and has been operating for over 50 years. Weipa offers a coastal community rich in geographical beauty and cultural heritage that provides families with opportunities to participate in leisure activities, sports and community events. Construction of the Amrun mining operation, located 40 kilometres southwest of Weipa, was completed in late 2018 expanding our bauxite operations to continue production from one of the world’s premier bauxite deposits.
