Exploration Geophysicists – All Levels
Work Location: Perth (With field work, as required) - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday (and 14D/7R)
Fortescue is moving at speed to transition into a Global green metals, minerals, energy and technology company. The Exploration Team are seeking passionate exploration geophysicists, to help with this transition. Fortescue has a significant global exploration portfolio of copper, lithium and other critical minerals and is aggressively exploring.
As a Geophysicist you will be working closely with experienced iron ore, base and precious metals exploration teams, planning, supervising, processing and interpreting a variety of geophysical surveys and contributing to the integration of multiple geoscientific datasets for target generation.
Key accountabilities:
- Design, implement and supervise optimum geophysical campaigns, undertaken in a safe and responsible manner, and in adherence with Fortescue’s and regulatory bodies’ requirements
- Working closely with Senior and Principal Geophysicists, provide technical expertise and industry best practice QA/QC, processing, modelling and interpretation of geophysical surveys
- Stay abreast of new developments in geophysics, including systems, software and acquisition techniques
- Manage and maintain a good working relationship with technical contractors and consultants
Qualifications and skills required:
- Tertiary qualification in geophysics (Honors preferred). Recent graduates and early career Geophysicists are both welcome to apply
- Some familiarity with magnetic, gravity, EM, IP/resistivity, seismic and magnetotelluric (AMT and MT) techniques
- Some prior knowledge of geophysical data processing and modelling software (e.g. Oasis Montaj and ModelVision), as well as GIS (e.g. ArcGIS, MapInfo) and 3D modelling platforms (e.g. Leapfrog)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A willingness to work for extended periods of time in remote environments
