Field Supervisor – Diamond Drilling

Work Location: Across all Pilbara sites

Roster: 8D/6R FIFO ex. Perth

Reporting to the Senior Geologist, the Field Supervisor is an active member of the leadership team that oversees the completion of all Diamond Drilling programs for the wider drilling team. Primary responsibilities include fostering a positive safety culture within the diamond drilling team, providing a safe work environment for all personnel entering the Diamond Drilling work areas, logistical support for all operations, ensuring field preparation is completed to design requirements in time for drilling operations, leading and supporting a large team of field technicians as they complete their daily tasks at sites across the Pilbara.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Promote and foster a positive, safe and inclusive culture with the Diamond Drilling team in line with FMG Values and HSES procedures
  • Manage and supervise the safe daily operation of on-site field technicians
  • Ensure all drilling programs are adequately resourced and supported to ensure no disruption to completion
  • Liaising with site teams to ensure earthworks are completed on time and budget
  • Procurement and delivery of supplies for operational support
  • Fulfill Supervisory appointed role duties
  • Ensure all direct reports in the Diamond Drilling team have the required training and are fit for work
  • Assisting in the daily collection of drill samples and delivery to lab or stores to be sent to offsite
  • Engage, train, develop and mentor staff with career progression in mind

Education and Qualifications:

  • Manage large, diverse team across multiple mine sites
  • High level organisational skills to coordinate multiple sites, logistics, and stakeholder requirements
  • High level interpersonal skills for engaging with various site teams
  • Competent in the use of MS Office suite, specifically within Excel
  • Practical problem solving skills
  • 4x4 ticket and experience
  • Class C manual Licence required - HR licence valued
  • Experience in use of SAP preferred
  • Exposure to Acquire Database
  • Exposure to geospatial software (ArcGIS preferred)
  • Experience in coordination and scheduling highly valued
