As the Field Hardware Technician, you are responsible for delivering quality outputs in the area of Operational Technology, primarily across the Mining fleet and associated communications infrastructure. Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator - Infrastructure, you will be part of a successful team of Field Systems personnel that enjoy what they do and value each other's contributions.

Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is one of the largest open pit operations in the area. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both draglines and load haul systems as the current and preferred mining method. Our site operates continuously 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has a long and proud history, employing approximately 1350 people from local and surrounding communities, who are our most valuable asset. 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

This role requires strong involvement and engagement in the areas of operations and maintenance to maintain Operational Technology systems. Whilst the role is predominantly hands-on, the successful candidate will be required to remotely diagnose equipment using a range of specialised software applications to assist them in their duties.  The role will also require you to: •    Setup, maintain and develop operational technologies such as Modular, CAT Mine Star, CCTV, Digital Radio, Network Access Point Servers, TCP/IP Networking, PTP and PMP Microwave Radio Links and the associated communications infrastructure that underpins these technologies, •    Support any improvement projects that are implemented or managed by the Field Systems team, •    Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Operational Technology Systems and Processes including Guidelines, Procedures, Templates and Tools.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidates will display the Yancoal – ‘Our Way’ behaviours in everyday practice and foster a ‘One Team’ culture along with promoting and driving the Yancoal values of People, Safety, Innovation, Integrity and Excellence.  To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes: •    A tertiary qualification in Electronics or in a related communication discipline, •    Experience in similar field hardware roles at large mines and experience across allied processes such as IT (Cisco CCNA, TCP/IP experience) or telecommunications, •    Experience with PTP and PMP Microwave Radio Link installation, configuration and maintenance, •    Excellent computer literacy – proficient in the use of MS Office suite programs such as Excel, Word Visio, Power Point and PDF, •    Problem solving and analytical skills, •    Advanced interpersonal communication with the ability to build constructive workplace relationships with peers, customers and stakeholders, •    Ability to work autonomously and within a large team environment, •    Able to demonstrate a track record of safe work that is done to a high standard of workmanship.
