Field Technician Entry
Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth
We are currently seeking an entry level Field Technician to join our Technical Services team at Iron Bridge. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of new, large and deep open-pit greenfield operations.
This is a permanent position with a competitive remuneration package. Your role would be to perform daily grade control activities (sampling and data entry etc), assist the Mine Geology, Geotech, Survey & Drill and Blast Teams as required.
Key responsibilities include:
- Blast Hole sampling/logging – program execution, sample submission to laboratory:
- Ensure accurate sampling and clear identification of samples
- Conduct daily pattern inspections and checks of sample drop-off locations
- Carry out weekly stocktakes on consumables and supplies
- Liaise with and maintain strong relationships with other teams
- Assistance to geotechnical engineers may include prisms & monitoring installs, wall & berm inspections, post blast inspections and stock takes.
- Assistance to surveyors may include pegging/flagging, basic GPS jobs, scanning, drone flights and bathymetric surveys.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Manual C Class Driver's License
- Proactive, highly motivated and enthusiastic. Willing to take on new challenges, work in a physically demanding job and learn new skills
- A team player with a ‘can do’ and collaborative attitude
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, and capable of building strong multi-departmental relationships
- Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- High attention to detail
