Work Location: Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.
Roster: 8D/6R - FIFO ex Perth
Join Fortescue’s Resource Definition team as a Field Technician at Solomon. Working an 8 days on / 6 days off roster with B Crew, you’ll support RC drilling activities, sample collection, data management, hazard rectification and field operations in a dynamic Pilbara environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Blast Hole sampling/logging – program execution, sample submission to laboratory:
- Ensure accurate sampling and clear identification of samples
- Conduct daily pattern inspections and checks of sample drop-off locations
- Carry out weekly stocktakes on consumables and supplies
- Liaise with and maintain strong relationships with other teams
- Assistance to geotechnical engineers may include prism installs, wall Inspections, berm Inspections, crack meter installations, post blast inspections and stock takes.
- Assistance to surveyors may include pegging/flagging, basic GPS jobs, scanning, drone flights and bathymetric surveys.
- Daily escorting of team members through the Autonomous Operating Zone (AOZ).
- RC sample logging and collection.
- Assisting RC team members with hazard rectifications.
- Daily AcQuire data entry and tracker updates.
- Dispatching sample bags to off-site laboratories.
- Assessing work area access and signage requirements.
- Entering and closing hazards in BMS.
- Liaising with Mining departments to support Resource Definition projects.
- Conducting vehicle pre-starts, reporting faults, and coordinating timely vehicle servicing.
- Monitoring and stocktaking office and drilling consumables.
- Assisting the Field Supervisor with day-to-day activities.
- General forklift loading and unloading.
- Closing out work and preparing the work area for the incoming crew.
Qualifications and Experience
- Daily escorting of team members through the Autonomous Operating Zone (AOZ).
- RC sample logging and collection.
- Assisting RC team members with hazard rectifications.
- Daily AcQuire data entry and tracker updates.
- Dispatching sample bags to off-site laboratories.
- Assessing work area access and signage requirements.
