About the role

We are looking for an experienced Field Technician Lead to provide technical knowledge and practical expertise gained through formal training and hands-on experience. This role operates with a moderate level of autonomy, following established processes while applying initiative to deliver high-quality outcomes. The position contributes through tasks requiring technical understanding and may coordinate the work of others, without formal supervisory responsibilities.

This role operates on a 15 days on, 13 days off FIFO roster, based at Winu Camp, with travel from Perth via Port Hedland. This roster offers the opportunity to work in a remote site environment while maintaining a balanced time off roster.

Reporting to the Specialist Resource Geology and working in a challenging and exciting environment, you will:

  • Organise and supervise site preparation works as necessary to accommodate geological equipment and related work.

  • Assist in geological field work such as participating in geophysical surveys, training field technicians in preparation for diamond core logging, cutting, photography, preparation for dispatch and placing into storage.

  • Understand and operate geological equipment to support field works.

  • As directed by the geologist, manage sample collection and dispatch for RC drilling.

  • Ensure all field equipment is ready for use, serviced and operational, and properly prepared for transportation.

  • Assist the geologist with contractor management, for example with the supervision of drill and geophysical crews, using standard working practices.

  • Collaborate well with own team and teams in the broader project support services to support programme success.

  • Accountable for ensuring all Field Technician activities are delivered to a high technical standard.

About you

You will have:

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team

  • Demonstrated experience working as a Field Technician within exploration or mining environments

  • Strong knowledge of diamond and RC sample processing practices, including QAQC

  • Current Manual C Class Driver’s Licence

  • Forklift licence with the ability to complete Verification of Competency (VOC)

  • Proven ability to work safely and effectively in remote, operational settings

  • Experience in leading, mentoring or guiding team members is desirable
