The Opportunity - Permanent, Full Time Position
Our team is part of the Finance function at South32, we are responsible for the financial accounting and related activities globally. We oversee the preparation and filing of the Group’s statutory financial statements and manage the relationship with our external auditor.
As Analyst Governance you will effectively assist the wider team, monitoring and reporting on the South32 finance control environment including the conduct of assurance activities and improvement culture across the Finance teams. Additionally providing support to finance half year and year end reporting.
Reporting to Lead Risk and Stewardship, key role responsibilities include:
• An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development
• Assist in the management, planning and execution of the end-to-end 2nd line of assurance program over the Finance Function
• Monitor and maintain a Centralised Catalogue of Finance Controls for South32
• Issue and review assurance reports and escalation points for issue resolution
• Timely and accurate reporting and analytical support to drive compliance across South32 business
• Assist and guide Finance Accounting and Reporting groups across Australia, Africa, Colombia, Brazil, Canada and the USA in the user training of technology and processes for the enablement of Finance assurance activities
• Reporting, Review and Analysis of employee travel and expense management and corporate card usage
• Provide support by assisting in the SAP ERP finance change process, including involvement and co-ordination of testing activities
• Provide support in preparing the Group’s half year and year end external financial reports including assisting with communication, coordination, financial statement/ note preparation and other ad hoc work.
About You
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relevant role in a large, complex business.
• Experience in resources sector
• Proven experience in assurance and audit practices & processes
• High computer literacy in SAP Finance Systems , Risk management systems (Global 360), BI reporting and Microsoft Office (Desirable)
• Knowledge of finance end to end processes, practices, and procedures
• Challenges the status quo and identifies opportunities to improve functional practices
• Well organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
• Analytical and accurate, with an inquisitive mindset to critically evaluate information and numbers
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Information Systems or Commerce
• CA/CPA or equivalent accounting qualification
