Global Procurement Finance Business Partner

  • Opportunity to work as key finance advisor to support a variety of complex projects and to lead performance management
  • Lead a team of FBP’s to contribute to developing and executing on Procurement strategy’s
  • Work closely with the Global Head of Procurement and key stakeholders across Procurement and the Group

About the role

Rio Tinto Procurement controls $16bn of purchasing globally and is one of the key pillars of our new Commercial 2.0 structure: Buy / Move / Sell / Enable. We are looking for a Finance Business Partner to join the Commercial Finance team to lead the Procurement Finance team that supports our Buy pillar. Based in Perth and reporting to the General Manager, Commercial Finance, this role is a fantastic opportunity to lead a team of FBP’s with key accountabilities:

  • Think pro-actively, taking initiative and working confidently with senior stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development of strategy and planning
    • Support senior management with analytics in shaping Procurement’s (and individual categories’) strategy and priorities, aligned with Commercial and Group strategy
    • Manage the planning process to support execution of our strategy
  • Partner with the business to advise on new investments and initiatives
    • Support business case or new category (e.g. decarbonisation) development and financial modelling for various initiatives
    • Partner with Market Analysis, Business Analysis and other functions/product groups to collaborate on major investments and support negotiations
    • Drive initiative tracking (Momentum), reporting and development of valuation methodologies to underpin measuring Procurement’s contribution to the bottom line
    • Advise and prepare pipeline of new value initiatives (Building Full Potential)
  • Lead Procurement performance management
    • Lead and evolve performance management process to focus on forward-looking KPI’s and discussion to tease out the so-what’s
    • Manage performance management reviews between Global Head of Procurement and Chief Commercial Officer
    • Manage functional cost discipline across Procurement

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Experience effectively managing a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Analytical and strategic forward-thinker
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Capacity to work autonomously and prioritise with minimal guidance
  • Procurement experience is preferred but not essential
  • Bachelor and/or professional qualification e.g. MBA, CFA
  • 10 years + significant finance and commercial experience within a global organisation
