Fire Systems Electrical Technician

Work Location: Hedland Operations - Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.

Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth or Residential

Working with a diverse team reporting to the maintenance Supervisor, your role will be required to maintain all the fire suppression systems, both in a planned and breakdown scenario. All works will be required to comply with Fortescue’s safe working practices and to industry standards. In addition, you will be required to perform additional trades assistant type tasks within the Hedland Utilities Department.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Testing of Fire Panels, Sprinkler Systems and Pump Sets
  • Experience with fault finding and servicing on gaseous fire suppression systems
  • FIP programming
  • Testing and tagging of Portable Fire Equipment
  • Testing of Emergency Light Systems
  • Fire System Fault Finding and Call Outs
  • Installation and Commissioning of Fire Systems
  • Electrical Installations/Inspection and Fault Finding on non-fire related asset

 Education and Experience:

  • Valid WA “A” Grade Electrical Licence
  • Open cabling licence
  • Current CPR & LVR training
  • Minimum Cert II in Fire protection required
  • Gaseous System Qualifications highly regarded
  • Sound knowledge of AS1851-2012, AS2293
