We are looking for a Coordinator (L Band for internal employees) to play a critical role in assisting to lead a team of operators to ensure safety, people and production targets are met.This role is a great opportunity for somebody wanting to progress into a leadership role, who has a strong focus on safety and driving cultural change. Working a 4, 5, 5 lifestyle day/night shift roster and reporting to the Fixed Plant Supervisor, you will be:
- Providing visible leadership and driving the safety culture.
- Continually developing and upskilling team members.
- Participating in the measuring, analysing and recommendation of process improvements.
- Leading by example, communicating effectively and ensuring values of the business are adhered to.

- A 'C' class driver’s license
- Prior experience in operating and inspecting fixed plant equipment
- Basic mechanical aptitude
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Previous operational leadership experience
- Computer literacy, including exposure to Microsoft Word, Excel
- Strong communication skills along with the ability to work in a team environment
- Exposure to other aspects of the fixed plant process (e.g. ship loading, On the Job Training, control room operations, etc.)
What we offer
This position is a residential role in Weipa. The successful applicant will be supported with relocation if coming from outside of Weipa and will go onto a housing waitlist for company housing. This position is based at Amrun so you will travel from Weipa to Amrun and stay at camp at Amrun whilst you are on shift. The shift pattern is 5 days, 4 off, 5 nights, 5 off, 4 days, 5 off continued.

Where you will be working
Rio Tinto Weipa is located 900km north-west of Cairns on the Gulf of Carpentaria and has been operating for over 50 years. Over the years, it has developed into a vibrant and diverse cultural hub of the Western Cape. Weipa offers a coastal community rich in geographical beauty and cultural heritage that provides families with opportunities to participate in leisure activities, sports and community events. With a strong sense of community, the region has plenty of natural beauty to offer including the opportunities for boating, fishing, camping and exploring. Construction of the Amrun mining operation, located 40 kilometres southwest of Weipa, was completed in late 2018 expanding our bauxite operations to continue production from one of the world’s premier bauxite deposits.
