Fixed Plant Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Work Location: Chichester Hub - Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.

Roster: 7D/7N/14R – FIFO ex Perth

Fortescue is seeking a talented Fixed Plant Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support all routine and breakdown maintenance within the Ore Processing Facility.

This is a great opportunity for a safety orientated, team player that holds a strong skillset in diagnosis, fault finding and continuous improvement.  

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking maintenance tasks on Crushers, Screens, Scrubbers and Pumps as well as general Fixed Plant Equipment including the alignments of drives and hydraulics system
  • Promoting and identifying health, safety, and environmental opportunities to improve equipment, processes, and behaviours
  • Identifying and implementing improvement initiatives which will involve working with many different disciplines within the organisation
  • Utilising problem-solving methodology to identify root causes and corrective actions

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Mechanical Fitter/Turner Trade Qualification
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Able to identify, create and review reliability improvements in mechanical equipment
  • Commitment to safety systems and experience participating in safety programs
  • Background maintaining Fixed Plant equipment desirable
  • Previous experience working with laser alignments, basic hydraulic systems and use of computer systems such as SAP and Microsoft Office are desirable
