Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Fixed Plant Engineering team is looking to recruit a tertiary qualified Fixed Plant Process Engineer to support our Greater Nammuldi operation in the Pilbara of Western Australia.Greater Nammuldi consists of the Brockman 2 and Nammuldi below water table processing plants that contribute approx. 45Mtpa to the Rio Tinto supply chain.

Reporting to the Senior Engineer Fixed Plant, key responsibilities will include:

  • Plant troubleshooting and optimisation
  • Investigating deviations from the plan, including identifying, scoping and recommending solutions
  • Providing technical support and advice to Fixed Plant Operation and Maintenance teams and frontline leaders
  • Validating downtime data in accordance with the Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s time model
  • Fostering and maintaining productive relationships within the Engineering team and other business units
  • Reporting plant performance through daily, weekly and monthly reporting formats
  • Preparing and distributing operating strategies and measuring conformance to plan
  • Shut support as required

What you’ll bring

To be considered suitable for this position, applicants will have:

  • An ability to demonstrate commitment to safety
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (Process Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent)
  • Process engineering (or related technical discipline) experience gained within a fixed plant operational environment, preferably within iron ore mining
  • An analytical approach with strong problem-solving, report writing and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Power BI and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Motivation and ability to work autonomously and develop new ideas to continuously improve and support the plant, and stakeholders
  • A current and full manual “C” Class drivers’ licence

Where you’ll be working

Located 100km north-west of Tom Price, the Greater Nammuldi operation is part of the Greater Brockman Hub and is wholly owned and operated by Rio Tinto.  This complex open pit operations offers a family friendly fly in fly out roster with state-of-the-art camp facilities.

The Greater Brockman Hub consist of Brockman 2, Brockman 4, Nammuldi and Silvergrass. Driving the latest technological advancements, the open-pit mines offer an avenue for opportunity and career progression.
