Title: Fuel Systems Engineer
Work location: Perth based (Hazelmere)
Roster: 5/2 Roster (Mon to Fri)
In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining and marine fleet
Based out of our new Hazelmere R&D facility and reporting to the Thermal & Fuel Systems Principal, we are presently looking for an experienced Fuel Systems Engineer to join the team
Key accountabilities will include:
- Generating fuel delivery and supply system concepts
- Designing and developing fuel delivery and supply systems suitable for engine demonstrator, prototype and production
- Supporting the design group in generation of 3D CAD and associated drawings of fuel systems
- Directing engine and bench testing development of fuel systems relating to the resolution of identified fuel system issues
- Supporting the numerical analysis development of the fuel systems relating to resolution of identified fuel systems issues
Qualifications and skills required:
- Mechanical engineering degree.
- Min 2-5 years industry/professional experience.
- Understanding of IC engine fuel systems including fuel injection equipment, operational requirements, development and validation and associated control system hardware, software and calibration
- Fuel system component sizing (flow) for all engine operating requirements.
- Fuel systems hardware evaluation and durability testing under bench and engine test conditions.
- Conversant with associated numerical analysis, measurement, manufacturing and assembly of fuel systems
- Write fuel systems testing, diagnosis and assembly manuals for prototype and production systems
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary engineering team.
- Ability to work across multiple work fronts in a high-pressure environment
- High commitment to safety
- Experience in preparing detailed scope of works
- Experience participating / coordinating in a purchasing tender process
- Experience in contractor engagement and contractor management process
- Excellent interpersonal awareness with ability to work well in a team
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive for excellence
- Results driven, responsible, and accountable
