Within our company wide Information Systems & Technology function, we are building an internal software development and delivery team focusing on high value and strategic products for the digital transformation of Rio Tinto.

About the role

We are seeking a Full Stack Web Developer who will be responsible for the development of our in-house web platform. You will be a team player, passionate about programming, able to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision and oriented towards providing the best experience to the end user. Someone with excellent communication and time management skills, a fast learner with a growth mindset.

This role will actively engage in the day-to-day development of our platform, creating innovative code solutions and participating in the architectural adjustments and evolution.

Responsibilities

  • Full stack web development within a team of experienced software developers. 
  • Development activities are cohesive to ensure business value is delivered in a timely manner.
  • Developed code is reviewed and passes acceptable code quality and security standards.
  • Front-end development using “vanilla” JavaScript along with our approved suite of libraries.
  • Back-end development using Python and Django framework.
  • Participate in review of programming tools and techniques
  • Adhere to best and compliant practices.

About you

Relevant qualifications and/or experience.

Extensive experience in designing and developing web solutions using Python, vanilla JavaScript, HTML, CSS and our suite of approved libraries.

Very good understanding of JavaScript, Django ORM, REST APIs.

Sound experience in working with SQL. 

Demonstrable experience in developing solutions and dashboard visualisations using Python/Django/HTML/CSS/JavaScript/SQL.
