We are looking for an engineer who will specialize in supporting the implementation of the D7 (Functional Safety) standard and processes that provide the management of Major Hazards across Heavy Mobile Equipment & Autonomous Mining

In addition, this role will be responsible to:

  • Provide technical support to implement and assure the D7 standard (Functional Safety), systems and processes
  • Ensure the appropriate systems and processes are in place, maintained and are having an impact to manage Major Hazards
  • Coach end users on the requirements within the Functional Safety standard and how to meet these requirements
  • Facilitate collaboration, feedback and drive continuous improvement to achieve the right outcomes for the site
  • Promoting safety in design and provide governance
  • Support the development of safety performance monitoring metrics and periodic hazard log review process 
  • Carry out impact analysis reviews during change management
  • Conduct functional safety auditing and governance activities
  • Participate in incident investigations, recommend actions - to drive improvements and prevent recurrences

What you will bring

  • Have practical experience within the Mining/Oil and Gas/Automation Industry in a site operational or technical role
  • Engineering qualification applied in an Operational environment (BEng in Chemical, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Control System or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience and technical understanding of mining technologies, autonomous systems and fleet management systems
  • CFSP, TUV Engineer (desirable)
  • Experience in life cycle management and assurance of functional safety systems
  • Ability to support engineering and operational teams with the defintion and implementation of maintenance tactics and configuration management activities
  • Ability to define safety requirements specifications and continuous improvement use cases
  • Understanding of system engineering and process map development
  • Exposure to scripting languages, SQL, Power Apps and VBA
  • Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with site leaders and operational stakeholders
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Ability to provide coaching and mentoring and relate to and interact with all levels within the organization
  • Able to translate technical or theoretical concepts into practical and relatable operational outcomes
  • Be resilient, proactive, and self-motivated with the ability to drive progress and change within a dynamic environment

This role is a Perth based role. This role is for applicants residing in or willing to permanently relocate to Western Australia
