About the role:

We are looking for an energetic and inspiring professional to join our team as the Functional Specialist – Mining, to be accountable for managing the embedding of solutions into the business, consulting on improvement opportunities, engaging with regional businesses and align activities with all stakeholders, for the relevant region.

As a Functional Specialist – Mining, you will be part of the IST Business Partner team for the Group Technical function within Rio Tinto.  This exciting role covers initiatives and projects in the Mining and Ore Body Knowledge domains including R&D. 

Reporting to the IS&T BP GT Mining & Asset Management APAC East and working in a collaborative and exciting environment within our global Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) team, you will have responsibility for the following:

• Be committed to the safety of yourself and your team and lead by example with an ever-present growth mindset
• Work with a wide variety of stakeholders within Rio Tinto Group Technical to identify opportunities and scope initiatives
• Analyze, design, and propose solutions that are appropriate for the business and align with technology strategy
• Engage with the Enterprise Architecture and Cyber teams on various aspects of solution design and end-state architectures
• Collaborate across IST service lines and functions within the Technical Platforms team to shape solutions for delivery
• Monitor deliverability of the design and service quality, during projects execution and transition to support
• Provide a point of contact for regional business units and maintain relationships with key stakeholders as their trusted IST advisor
• Maintain open, transparent, and regular communications with key stakeholders including internal colleagues within the broader team
• Escalate support issues and advise on support processes and other delivery teams to facilitate a culture of shared knowledge and common processes

What you’ll bring:

• Solid experience in capturing functional requirements for the implementation of mining applications and business processes
• Implementation experience with SAP PP and QM modules
• Understanding of technology governance as well as idea, demand, project, and portfolio management processes
• A consultative can-do attitude, analytical mindset, and complex problem solving-abilities
• A focus on delivering customer value, with the ability to rapidly understand business priorities and shape solution options
• Highly developed written and oral communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Develop and foster a culture of collaboration respect, diversity, and inclusiveness
• Demonstrate commitment to HSE and Rio Tinto’s core values
