Title: Gas Fitter – Class 1 Type B Appliances
Work location: Christmas Creek
Roster: 8 days on, 6 days off – FIFO ex Perth
In conjunction with Fortescue Future Industries (FFI), an exciting opportunity is now available to be part of Green Fleet Testing & Proving of Proto-type HME (Heavy Mobile Equipment) trials using hydrogen & battery power systems. The Chichester Green energy Hub represents an opportunity to be part of the first introduction of Green Hydrogen Refuelling and Hydrogen Powered Surface Mobile Equipment at a Mine site in the world.
Reporting to the Green Energy Hub Manager at Fortescue's Chichester Hub, you will be in a senior role for supporting site operations in support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality.
You will have a strong safety focus, be able to adapt to rapid change, communicate well with mobile maintenance team members and mentor other trades as they gain log book hours towards completion of their Type B gas fitting licenses on our hydrogen powered platforms.
Key summary of role
Key accountabilities will include:
- Oversee and completion of installation, commissioning, and servicing Type B gas appliances.
- Supervision of restricted class I, type b fitters
- Notice of completion gas fitting work
- Working alongside Mechanical Maintenance supervisors to integrate Hydrogen Powered Surface Mobile into ongoing maintenance plans
- Liase with Hydrogen refuelling station plant supervisors on Cryogenic plant maintenance and gasfitting
Qualifications and skills required:
- Demonstrated Hydrogen Gas fitting experience
- Must have Class I (Type B) unrestricted gas license in WA
- Cryogenic Gases experience
- Type P (refuelling station) license preferred but not essential
- Electrical or Mechanical Maintenance trade background highly advantageous but not essential
