Nickel West is a fully integrated mine-to-market business operating in various locations across Western Australia. All nickel operations (open-cut and underground mines, concentrators, a smelter and refinery) are located in Western Australia, employ over 2,500, and 85% of the output is sold to global battery material suppliers. The integrated business adds value throughout our nickel supply chain, with the majority of Nickel West’s current production sold as powder and briquettes.
About the Role
Reporting into the Asset President, Nickel West, the General Manager Kwinana Refinery is a key member of the Nickel West Asset Leadership Team. With a workforce of 300 BHP employees and contractors, you will be accountable for the operation and maintenance of the Kwinana Refinery in Perth.
In this role, you will cultivate strong relationships through effective communication, influencing and consultation; shaping the culture across the Nickel West Asset Integration teams to ensure a safe, productive, sustainable, and disciplined approach to work focused on project delivery and continuous improvement.
As GM Kwinana Refinery, you will be responsible for:
- A safe system of work to protect the health and safety of people and the environment in accordance with statutory and BHP requirements.
- Risk ownership - Ensure that critical controls are managed, and material risk is maintained in a well-controlled state across the Asset Integration team.
- A culture in which engagement, inclusion and diversity thrive, so that everyone is motivated and supported to realise their full potential.
- Operating performance targets together with plans that demonstrate how these will be achieved through the Corporate Alignment Planning (CAP) processes.
- Continuous improvement through the disciplined application of the BHP Operating System, and its standards, processes, systems and structures.
- A capital program that maximises shareholders returns and complies with the capital approvals process.
- Safeguarding and enhancing the standing and reputation of BHP especially to our host communities.
This is a global search with the role based residentially in Perth, Western Australia
About You
With good experience in resource processing, mining or operations, you have a track record in improving productivity, and developing and working within team-centric delivery mechanisms where you hold the highest values of integrity, care for others and create psychological safe teams.
You will be strategic thinker with the ability to focus and prioritize critical deliverables to provide clear direction, with competing priorities. With a strong business acumen and technical base, which includes an understanding of mineral processing, you are a confident decision maker who is at ease in working in a complex environment. Additionally, you can establish credibility through your strong technical ability, operational expertise, leadership and excellent communication skills.
