General Manager - Operations

Roster: 4D/3R – FIFO ex Perth
Now is the time to join Fortescue as we race to real zero carbon emissions by 2030 and decarbonise our operations. You will be at the forefront leading a values-driven team in turning strategy into operational outcomes.
Lead the mining, mine services, maintenance, processing, business improvement, and administration departments to successfully meet the production, safety, and cost targets for the mine while cultivating and promoting a culture in the workplace that reduces and eliminates incidents, environmental impacts, and injuries. You will also be responsible for ensuring Fortescue’s reputation with the native title groups are developed to have effective community relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring all operational and commercial objectives, strategies and action plans are implemented, adhered to in a timely manner and reported through to the executive leadership.
- Ensuring cost targets are met, implementing improvement programs and maintaining consistent product grades within target specifications.
- Developing strong, co-operative internal and external working relationships with major stakeholders, including the executive and native title groups
- Proactively monitoring and managing contractor performance and report against key performance indicators
- Reviewing, improving and implementing operating practices and policies to ensure continuous mine improvement.
- Management the implementation of green fleet, green processing and other environmental initiatives aligned to the success of FFI and FMG
Qualification and Experience:
- A genuine commitment to safety and comprehensive experience in leading zero harm environments.
- A proven track record in successful leadership of large mine and processing operations
- Consistently accomplishing tasks that engenders trust with the executive.
- Provision of leadership and curating cultural and behavioural norms aligned to Fortescue’s Values
- Direct experience overseeing large projects and/or commissioning works.
- Demonstrated experience in consultation with Native Title groups and management of cultural heritage.
