About the Role
As part of the Geoscience Function, the role of Strategic Modelling aims to provide geological interpretations and estimates of the Mineral Resources of our Western Australia Iron Ore projects. We are seeking a Geological Modeller, who has developed skills in geological interpretation and 3D modelling.
The core focus of this role will be to develop 3D geological models of BHP Western Australian Iron Ore deposits, with particular focus on the structural and stratigraphic controls on mineralisation. These 3D geological models will feed into Resource Estimation, Geotechnical Design and strategic Life of Asset Mine Planning activities.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Strategic Modelling Team and be someone who has developed technical skills, is collaborative and a team player. You also role model ‘safe to speak up’ behaviour and contribute to the development of a respectful, trusting and enjoyable team culture.
BHP is also flexible with respect to this role being filled on either a full-time or part-time basis, with a minimum of three days per week (60%).
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Geoscience
- Developed skills in geological interpretation and structural modelling
- Experience using 3D modelling packages is essential. Leapfrog Geo experience will be looked upon favourably
- Developed skills in mapping, logging, structural geology, and understanding mineral systems
- Knowledge of the iron ore stratigraphy of the Pilbara region of WA would be advantageous
- Effective communicator of geological uncertainty, risk and opportunity
