Job Tasks and Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Mine Geologist to join our Technical Services team on an attractive roster. Moolarben mine is currently in an exciting phase growing to deliver up to mine 16Mt of coal per year from 2023. Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, the key role responsibilities include:

• Provide geology support and information through daily pit inspections and communication with production personnel
• Production tracking and capture of accurate coal mining data to support the coal reconciliation process
• Promote focus on best practice coal mining, horizon control and coal recovery
• Complete geotechnical inspections and communicate geotechnical hazard controls with production personnel
• Update short term mining structure models and surfaces for mine planning
• Assist with exploration and contractor management

Skills and Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in Geology
• Experience working in an Open Cut Coal mining environment
• Preferred experience in Vulcan or similar modelling software
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to communicate Geological information to various departments including Technical Services & Production Teams
• Ability to manage multiple scopes of work
• Hold a current driver’s licence
• Ability to promote a strong safety culture
• The motivation and ability to; be positive, be curious, learn, listen, contribute to a ‘one team’ work environment, take on challenges and deliver work to the standard and deadlines required.
