Silver Lake Resources is an established and successful ASX 200 Gold producer and explorer in an active expansion phase, with a proposed merger of equals with Red 5 set to create a leading mid-tier ASX Gold producer.

The Santa Open Pit is a strategic addition to Silver Lake’s Mount Monger Operations (MMO), providing further baseload feed to the Randalls Mill. Santa is currently a 5-year project that commenced in April 2024 and will include cutbacks of the existing pit walls of the previous UG mine, as well as major new pit development. With several additional potential Open Pits proximal to the Santa open pit, including the Rumbles and Flora Dora prospects, in addition to the French Kiss project at the Aldiss mining center, this role offers the opportunity to impact the direction of multiple start up, cut-back and consolidation projects.

THE ROLE:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Geology Open Pit Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will support the geological team in the development and production of our open pit mining operations. This role involves hands-on work in the field and collaboration with various departments to ensure efficient and safe mining practices. This position reports to the Senior Mine Geologist and will be based at the Open Pit Operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct daily supervision to monitor the mine’s ore extraction and to collect data in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Allocate appropriate ore classification to high-grade and low-grade material.
  • Assist with mark out of ore and waste blocks.
  • Assist in Blast Movement Monitoring (BMM) installation and pick-ups.
  • Analyse and record geological data using specialised software and tools.
  • Monitor and report on ore quality and grade control.
  • Support safety and environmental compliance initiatives.
  • Collaborate with mine geologists, engineers, and other team members to optimise pit design and operations.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of geological activities.

ABOUT YOU:

You are hardworking, have initiative and can develop excellent working relationships within our team.

You can demonstrate:

  • Experience in process plant operations and training, preferably gold
  • Your attainment of a Certificate IV Training and Assessment (TAE40116)
  • Excellent organisation and record keeping skills
  • Your ability to work autonomously
  • Proficiency with the MS Office Suite
  • Holding a C class drivers’ licence
  • Holding a "Provide First Aid" (HLTAID011) certificate or higher qualification

The following would be desirable:

  • Proven experience in open pit mining and geological fieldwork.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of geological mapping and sampling techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments and adapt to varying weather conditions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to operate field vehicles and equipment.

The position will be offered working on a 14:7 roster, with nights and day shifts within the rotation, either Residential or DIDO from Kalgoorlie or FIFO from Perth. DIDO/FIFO employees would reside at the nearby Randall’s Village accommodation.
