Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Role overview:
An opportunity exists for a motivated, agile Geoscience Data Specialist to work within the exploration geology team, assisting with managing geological information from our exploration tenements across Australia and overseas.
As the Data Specialist you will work autonomously and take ownership of your work. You will contribute ideas and use your problem-solving skills to improve data management efficiencies of the team and organisation. You will receive mentoring, guidance, and upskilling in new technologies. You will review processes and lead change management to successfully roll out data projects, and work within a dynamic, multicultural team. Enhancements you implement will help the Exploration team with fast paced data collection.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Coach/mentor geologists and field technicians in appropriate data management processes, ensuring workflows and business processes are followed
- Technical and people adoption change management to successfully roll-out data projects
- Project promotion to ensure teams have all the information they need about new initiatives
- Liaising with teams within Exploration to determine data requirements, both on sites and in Perth
- Identify and investigate opportunities for process improvement
- Ensuring support for the department through use of Tableau and the Fortescue Hub site
- Ensure inter-departmental support for departments consuming our data
Qualifications and skills required:
- Experience in the use of acQuire or other geological information management systems
- Experience in data analytics, such as Tableau or Power BI
- Previous experience within an exploration and/or mining environment
- Analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail to analyse, define strategies, drive projects and market resultant processes and changes
- Skills to methodically define efficient workflows
- High level of autonomy and independence
- A flair for critical thinking and a desire to collaborate with others
