Geospatial Analyst 

Site:  Perth based - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday - Friday

We are looking for a GIS role to be filled to work at our Perth office in our Geospatial Services Team. You will work normal business hours, Monday to Friday, being regularly based in Perth with the opportunity to occasionally visit one of our operational or project construction sites when required to conduct training at site.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Map production using ArcMap or ArcPro software
  • Data auditing and editing within ArcSDE SQL database to ensure updated and correct information is entered into the database
  • Ensure ArcSDE remains the only repository for all spatial data used by clients to maintain the single source of truth
  • Contribute with compliance requirements by updating MRF/AER datasets
  • Assist with the capture of Historical Geology
  • Conduct any GIS analysis task as required
  • Update any procedures as required
  • Dial Before You Dig support provided within 2 business days of receipt if DBYD request
  • Help with Objection & Tenement Application maps support
  • Establish processes to comply with any Government regulatory requirements
  • Establish and uphold robust, prolific working relationships and partnerships with clients both in Perth Office and on site
  • Support the Mining Proposal process as required
  • Adhere to the set guidelines and templates used for mapping by Geospatial Services
  • Provide training to staff, contractors and team members in geospatial software, LUC and other relevant processes and field equipment utilizing GIS software

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Completed BSc in GIS/Surveying/Data Science/Computer Science or equivalent
  • ESRI ArcGIS Suite experience, especially in ArcMap and ArcSDE
  • Exposure to other software i.e. FME, Geocortex, TerraExplorer Pro, Leapfrog, Acquire, would be beneficial
  • Data processing and data capturing experience
  • Capable of following procedures, processes and standards and identifying and recommending any improvements that may present
  • A thirst for learning new GIS skills and share those skills with others
