About You
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated geotechnical engineer to join our Jaguar Operation. Located 60km north of Leonora and 250km north of Kalgoorlie, the operation includes Bentley underground mine which is currently 1km deep producing Zinc, Copper and Silver utilising longhole open stoping with cemented rockfill mining methods.

The role is permanent, on an 8/6 dayshift FIFO from Perth though DIDO options can be accommodated if required.

Duties and responsibilities:
  
  • Advise and provide consultative services to Technical Services teams on geotechnical issues
  • Maintain and update the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP) and ensure compliance with the site GCMP, including ground support QA/QC test work, such as grout strength and friction bolt pull tests
  • Design, review and monitor ground support requirements for underground stopes and development areas
  • Complete numerical modelling or similar to ensure safe extraction of stopes.
  • Regular review of the quality control of support installation is undertaken and any deficiencies with the ground support system at the mine are promptly reported to Underground Manager/General Manager
  • All significant activity such as rock noise, rock falls, large stress variations, unusual seismic activity and high rates of back subsidence are investigated and reported upon
  • Present ground awareness training for mining personnel and communicate relevant GCMP risks such as subsidence, air blast, inrush and working and around voids.
  • Geotechnical project work as required.
  
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
   
  • Tertiary qualification in Geology or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years experience with at least 1 year in an operational role
  • Current C class driver licence
  • First Aid Certificate (current)
  • Commitment to safe work processes
  • Strong problem solving, communication, and team participation skills
  • Proficient use of software, including Surpac/Deswik, Leapfrog, and Microsoft Excel

The Operation
Jaguar Operations is an established underground zinc, copper, gold and silver mining operation located 65km north of Leonora in the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia. It was acquired by Aeris Resources in July 2022.  The Jaguar Operations tenement package spans a 410km2 area and hosts multiple favourable stratigraphic horizons along a 50km corridor.
  
Operations include an underground mine at the Bentley deposit utilising open stoping methods and a 600ktpa processing plant producing copper and zinc concentrates with precious metals by-products. Concentrates are trucked to the Geralton for export to customers internationally.
